Fuel Price Increase in Argentina

In February, fuel prices in the province of Buenos Aires show significant variations. In La Plata, the price of regular fuel is $1179 per liter, while premium gasoline reaches $1423, marking a 2.4% difference compared to the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA).

In other areas of the province, such as the southern conurbation (Lomas de Zamora) and western zone (Ramos Mejía), the price of regular fuel is $1207 per liter, and premium is at $1476. In the northern zone, like San Isidro, regular gasoline sells for $1179, and premium for $1452.

The government decided to postpone the update of liquid fuel taxes (ICL) and carbon dioxide taxes (IDC) until March as a measure to contain inflation. Despite this decision, the oil company YPF increased gasoline and diesel prices by 2% nationwide, preempting the tax postponement.

It is expected that other companies will follow this increase in the coming hours in response to the rise in the price of Brent crude oil, which is used as a reference in Argentina. At YPF stations in CABA, the price of regular gasoline is $1151 per liter, while premium reaches $1422. On the other hand, in the province of Buenos Aires, the price of regular fuel is $1179.

Since January, fuels have accumulated an average increase of 3.88% in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA). In light of this situation, the Energy Secretariat decided to postpone the increase in fuel taxes until March, thus maintaining current prices during February.

In Greater Buenos Aires, fuel prices are higher than in CABA, where a price increase was anticipated for early February. It is important to consider these variations in fuel prices when planning expenses in this area.
